I FREAKING LOVE FAN ART
When I first got back into art, it had been many years since I took it seriously. I did art all throughout school, but I never went into college or university or any other specialized program. I let my art die.
It wasn't because my passion for art dissipated over the years. Depression did play a key role in why I never pursued it. That, and I always felt the need to please others.
I grew up under the guise that art did not pay. Or if it did, then you had to have a network of people to get you those high paying careers. To be honest, the thought of interacting with people is what turned me off about anything. Once I heard you needed an art portfolio accompanied by an interview to get into a good school I put my artist ambitions away.
There were many thoughts as to why I didn't want to go on and pursue arts, but the main thought was, "I'm not good enough." Despite my above average grades in the arts, I just couldn't accept my art as "good". When I let my art die, a piece of me withered away with it.
Fast forward a decade, when I moved to Montreal, I decided to give art another try. My passion was reborn when I started to focus on things I liked. I looked up my favourite characters and tried drawing what I saw. I have one character that I like to re-draw every year to see my progress, but that's for another post.
When I discovered Star Wars, I was hooked. I would draw many portraits of the characters over the years, constantly picking up new tricks here and there. When I drew up Princess Leia, I was still learning how to do proportions and shadowing. With Luke, I wasn't sure if I could even draw the hands.
Each and every piece has a story, and as I unveil more fan art in the future, I will tell their stories. HHP
Hey there! Thank you for reading my posts! If you like the work I've been putting into this site, consider sending me a few dollars. Or, you can just check out what I've got going on Ko-Fi in the future. I'll be preparing digital content soon, and who knows, I might actually be selling my art there! Thanks again, have a great weekend!
